Shoes and Hats

His new thing, for whatever reason, is wearing shoes always... and he's started wanting to wear his hats, too!  It's funny because they never really match, and as you'll see in the first picture, they're not always put on with the greatest of care (notice the right ear).

This was in the morning, and I had just changed his diaper, hence the onesie being unbuttoned.  Good stuff  :)

MORE Pool & Family Fun!

I can remember being extremely exhausted after the long 4th of July weekend :)

We drove in on Monday and headed over to party it up with the O'Neals!!  (and many others, including Aunt Linda & Jarvis, who were gracious hosts!)

Sweet little Gentry!

LOVE Brooks's hair!  At one point it was in a long, curly mohawk, although I missed that picture :(  Sad...

Dex & Daddy Doug.  Hanging out in the shade, like smart people!!

Three generations of O'Neals.  Douglas O'Neals, actually!

Boys and Frogs...

I looked up the old mother goose nursery rhyme and I got a few different versions, one of which quoted... frogs, and snails, and puppy dog tails, that's what little boys are made of!  Although that's not the one I grew up singing, we'll go with it for this post  :)

Dex has absolutely no problem playing with this huge (I think it's huge anyway) frog in the pool.  Can I tell you, I actually dreamed about a gi-nor-mous bull frog the other night, and I'm pretty sure this is why.

I'll be checking for warts for the next few months!

Time Spent With Our Elders and Blueberry Picking

I'm combining a couple of things from our trip to Milam in one post... While we were there we went to visit some very special people in my life, who loved seeing Dex.  My parents neighbors, who I used to go see when I was a child, and where I remember making divinity with MaryLou on several occasions, was our first stop.  It's almost unreal listening to their stories about when there were gunfights on the town square, and people avenged their loved one's honor... it was a whole different time.

It's kinda funny, I just noticed in these two pictures Dex is giving them both the same look  :)

Then we went to see my old nanny.  The lady who kept me from baby to kindergarden.  This was the first time she'd seen Dex, and she loved him instantly :)  (I'm gonna go ahead and tell the world that I never had to get one spanking at nanny's house!  I think I was the only one there who was that well behaved :)  Thank you very much!!!)  How very cool it was to take my baby back to meet her...

(Dex loved her bracelet...you can see him playing with it in the picture.)

************

Then on Monday morning, we went blueberry pickin'!  A lady that goes to my parents church has a little blueberry patch (well, not really all that little...) and we were able to get in some good early morning pickin'.  Dex picked berries that were blue, red, white...it didn't matter.  And he put them all in his mouth.  I bet you can guess what he's been having for dessert the last few days.  Did I mention, we got 7 pounds of blueberries in about 30 minutes??

And finally, a picture of Emi & Dex before church... just thrown in for good measure :)  (don't worry, he didn't wear the fisherman hat to church!  Or the sunglasses, for that matter.)

July 4th Weekend - Part II

Day 2:  I was having a big time, taking pictures of stuff around my parent's pool, taking pictures of Dex & Pop swimming...

When all of the sudden Sean yelled out that there was a snake...  It was lounging right where I'd been taking pictures!  ICK, double ick, and shudder!  Just gives me the chills!  I don't really care for snakes.

Pop and Dex made many rounds around the house/pasture on the four wheeler.  When they'd get off, Dex would stick his arm out toward the four wheeler and grunt, as if to say 'again'!

Backyard at sunset.  I love this oak tree...

Humming birds...

And finally, watching the fireworks...  Dex was so confused.  It was loud and I think he wanted to be scared, but everyone was telling him how cool they were and clapping and saying "YAY!!!" so he had this weird look on his face the whole time, but he clapped right along with everyone else!  Such a trooper.

July 4th Weekend - Part I

Wow, I have tons of pictures from this weekend (and last week)... I'm working on getting them all organized to post.  These are a few from our first day in the country.  And by "our" I mean mine and Sean's.  Dex had been there since Tuesday of last week.  A BIG thanks to Daddy Doug and Emi for making that trip possible!  :)

Being sweet with Aunt Tia...

Learning how to play the guitar from Uncle Levi.

Pool time!  We kept trying to keep him covered (hat, sunglasses, umbrella)... he was not having it.

Check out the bumble bee flying in the background :)

More pictures to come!!!  Lots of driving today and knowing I have to be at work at 7:30 in the morning makes for one tired mama...
