Christmas!! (part II)

Here is how our Christmas began...

I'll just say that Sean has spent about 4 weekends at his deer lease in the last two months, and we're at my parents home for less than 24 hours and he shoots this 8 point. Across the street. Uh-huh.

Then it was on to some home-made cinnamon rolls and cream cheese braids... (it's not hard to gain 5 pounds in a weekend at my parents)

We read the Christmas story before we opened presents.  Dex was a huge help.

And as we say every year... "I thought we were cutting back this year!"  Hmmm... doesn't look like it!  (and don't you love my parents Charlie Brown Christmas Tree!!)

Dex got a big boy potty for Christmas this year.  I must admit, I'M SCARED!

Dex has been needing a stepping stool to get to the sink for a while, and so Pop made and Emi painted this nifty little stepper.  Now I don't have to hold him up to the sink so he can "wash" his toothbrush off.  (wash = hold toothbrush under the faucet, stick it in his mouth and suck the water out, then repeat.  Again and again and again)

He also has on his new shoes in these pictures :)  He is definitely a shoe boy, just like his daddy!

Giving Tia some lovin' :)

Singing the Choo-Choo, Choo-Choo Train song!

Showing off his new winter hat.

What a wonderful Christmas Day!!

I just love this picture!  hehe!  Pop found the mistletoe!

Christmas!! (part I)

I have so many pictures, I'm going to break this into at least three posts :)

Let's begin with Christmas Eve...

We always open our Christmas Jammies on Christmas Eve.  This was the first time Dex opened a present this Holiday/Birthday season and I was hoping that he kind of got into it, since I (and many other family members) spent a lot of time actually wrapping his presents.  And he didn't disappoint, although he turned out to be a little slow with the whole process... one strip at a time... slow and steady, that's my little boy :)

Then... it was time to see Santa.  Dex warmed up as time went on, but he never would sit in his lap by himself.  So you'll notice me with them in all of these pictures!

Look at that face!  haha!

"Who IS this guy??"  (In hindsight, we might should have prepared him a little for Santa's visit.  Maybe told him who he was, at least?  Oopsie :))

Giving Santa a kiss :)

But can't stay close for TOO long!

By the end of the night, though, he was pointing to the Santa on his PJ's and saying "Santa."  Smartie.

Emi will give Santa a kiss!  *singing*  I saw mama kissing SANTA CLAUS!

Now a little help prepping for Christmas lunch before bedtime (for Dex).  I can't say thank you enough to my Mom for all that she does to prepare for our Christmas feast.  Along with Christmas breakfast...dinner... and every other meal while we were there.  She works her little tail off making everything and it is MUCH appreciated!  And delicious :)

Next blog... Christmas morning!!

Happy Birthday Declan!!

I can't believe our little Christmas baby is two years old.  My, my, my... how the time does fly.

We love you, Dex!  Happy Birthday!!!

"Breakfast with Santa"

It wasn't technically breakfast with Santa, but close enough :)  There were donuts and Santa was there... although none of our group wanted to get very close.  Maybe next year!

Mimi, Aunt Shannon, Brooks, and Gentry came over to go see Santa.  This was the closest any of them came to sitting in his lap  :)

(Mimi & Brooks)

Dex's reaction to Santa...

Shannon accurately dubbed our three the "khaki coat gang."  ;)

Dex
Brooks
Gentry

And of course, there were the donuts!!

You just can't go wrong with donuts for breakfast!!  Santa?...well we could take him or leave him (this year anyway)!  :)

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas...

FINALLY.  Yes, I know!!  All I can say is... I plan on being a better mom NEXT year :)

Daddy Doug came by this morning with some donuts.  Dex picked the sprinkle one.  Go figure :)

This is pretty much what I think he will look like as a teenager.  Stop growing up so fast, baby boy!!

And... in case anyone wondered what tops our tree...
*hey, I pick my battles*
