Flexing His Teeth Muscles

I guess since he can't crawl over the walls that seem to trap him in at night, he's decided he'd gnaw his way out...

I don't know why he hates being in that crib so much!

This is what I discovered yesterday.

And I honestly don't know when he's doing this!  I mean, I get up and get him out in the mornings and he's always still laying down.  And when he's napping, the minute I hear him crying, I go get him.  He has to be doing it in the middle of the night or something!

What a Trooper

We are having our new office doors and staircase banister stained in the house.   And stain stinks.  So, we've kept the doors open to air the place out, and well, frankly, it's cold outside, so that means it's cold inside.   This is poor Dex having his nighttime bottle this afternoon.  Haha!  As I said, what a trooper :)

Tricks

Dex seriously seems to learn something new every single day. I noticed this weekend that he is actually starting to play like a little boy and not a baby! He will try to mimic you when you do things, he will crawl around the room, come and show you what he's picked up, and play hide and seek (well, he will duck his head behind something then poke it up where he can see you and laugh and laugh!) It so flippin' cute! I will try to get a video of that next time. This is SUCH a fun age!! I feel like I say that every month older he gets! When do we start regressing and saying "he was really testing my nerves today?" :)

Doing his "fish face"

Video of him mimicking me smacking and waving hello/goodbye!

Such a smartie :)

Change of Subject

I didn't take any pictures of Dex this weekend, mostly because I was taking some of this pretty lady!  (Most of you recognize her as my beautiful little sister!)  :)

I've been really playing with the camera and photography, and wanted a different subject than Dex.  He's sweet and cute and all, but lately he is just impossible to get to smile, or even LOOK, at the camera.  It was nice to have someone who would do what I told them to do!  Haha!  I've become fairly "decent" in photoshop (still probably only working with about 5% of the program's capabilities), so I thought I'd give it a whirl with a real, live photo shoot.  I think they turned out pretty good!  Although it helps when your subject looks like her!

I would love to start doing some Senior Photos for the upcoming graduates as a side project, so if anybody knows of anyone that would like me to practice on them, please let me know!

Thanks, Amanda, for being my first subject and for hanging out with me :)

Friday Night Blues

I'm honestly grasping for a post here!  We were going to go out to eat tonight (which I was going to take pictures of...because little Dex in his highchair at a big table is pretty funny), but that fell through, so I had to figure something out here at home.  So, we were just playing around and I grabbed a few shots.

He still loves his monkey safari bouncy chair, however he doesn't sit in it quite the same as he used to :)

Snacking, with an added degree of difficulty...

Holding his spoon the whole time!  Seriously one of his favorite toys...a spoon!  ha!

What I Do On My Days Off :)

I took a few million pictures today to play with in Photoshop.  Dex didn't really cooperate, but every once in a while, I'd catch him looking my direction.  He's gotten to where sometimes we can literally yell his name at him and he just keeps on doing whatever it is he's doing, never to even glance our way!  Stinker.

Playing with his rocking chair from Mimi and Daddy Doug.  He loves this thing, even though he hasn't quite mastered the concept of rocking yet...  I think right now he mainly enjoys crawling into it :)

Can't keep his tongue in his mouth, this one...

I think his outfit adds 10 pounds :)  Hehe!

He'll Crawl Anywhere!

This face just screams trouble!!

I leave him alone two seconds and he's all tangled up in table chairs!

Did I do something?

Snow Day!!!

This is as far into the snow as I'd let Dex get.  I know...Mean Mommy... but that snow was nothing but slushy mess on the wet ground, and he doesn't even know how to stand up yet!  I did walk outside with him and let the snow fall on his bald head, and I don't know how much he really enjoyed that.

Snowy pictures... absolutely GORGEOUS outside!!

I've started playing with Photoshop (as you'll see in these pictures).  The program is extremely confusing (for me, anyway) but the end result can be pretty awesome!

Other Favorite Things To Do (right now)

Stand  up on things that are wobbly, so momma has a heart-attack.

Climbing the stairs and pulling up on the banister spindles (also super safe).

Playing in the mirror (glass).

I see a pattern here...

Favorite New Toy...Keys

We've really got to keep an eye on Dex these days.  The minute you turn away, he's headed to the front of the house to the keys table.  (by the way, it is so funny to watch him crawl away... he's so determined, head down, rear end swinging from side to side...)

Pulling up on the table.

Oh look!  KEYS!  Imagine those being here!

What, am I not supposed to play with these?  (nice belly, Dex!)

At this point, I pick him up and take him back to the "play room."  And guaranteed 5 minutes later, we are headed straight back to the keys!  He will NOT be deterred!

Standing!!

Tonight, we were just hanging out and Dex was standing up and playing on his leapfrog toy, and then he just let go... he was standing there, hands by his side, holding on to NOTHING!  I was beside myself!  I hissed at Sean to come and look, and I mean, Dex stood there for like 10 seconds!  I can't explain how excited I was!!  I have to say, I would have never expected to get so dang excited about my kid standing up like I did tonight!  Absolutely beside myself!  haha!!  Funny how things change...

Anyway, we tried to re-create the scene to take pictures, and it was a no-go.  I'm pretty sure Dex thought we were playing some kind of weird new game.

Right before he busted it...

"Mom and Dad, you guys are silly!"

"Smilin' Saturday"

This is for my dad (Pop).

Talkless Tuesday :)

I wasn't sure how to caption this picture, but I love it, so I wanted to put it on the blog.  I stole my friend's "Wordless Wednesday" idea, however it's not Wednesday, so here's my "Talkless Tuesday" post...

First "Haircut"

Before (notice the peach fuzz at the nape of his neck.  That's what's coming off!):

During:

He was pretty fidgit-y, so we gave him his favorite thing to chew on... his sunglasses.  (Can you see his very first black eye?  It's actually the eye furthest from the camera, but I definitely notice it.)

I think he was pretty much over it by this point (2 minutes in).  That may be the saddest face I've ever seen!!

(I was reading through this and noticed all the Girl Scout cookies in the background!  haha!  Those girls get me every year!!)

Here's some of the hair we cut.  Haha!  I know he looks completely bald to begin with and you're wondering why in the world we cut his hair, but that back hair needed to come off, it really was getting very long and the hair on top of his head just wasn't keeping up!

After (can you see ANY difference?):
