29 Weeks

Just a really quick update this week.  The last ultrasound (on Friday) showed my cervix at 1.9 cm and a little less funneling than the previous weeks.  Meaning, things are looking good!!

Our absolute very favorite NICU doctor (who worked on Dex 3 1/2 years ago) has been stopping by to check on us the last few weeks.  She will not be back at this hospital for two more weeks, so I've been instructed to keep this baby in until at least then!  I think I can, I think I can :)

Update - 28 Weeks! Yay!

The ultrasound today looked good!  The baby looks great and is growing well.  They won't actually measure her for an estimated length/weight until next Friday though.  *sigh*

As far as my cervix, it measured 2.2 cm today!  Yay!  It will always fluctuate, but at least it hasn't shortened!  (it was 1.9 cm last week)  So... bedrest seems to be working for now.  Big relief!  So, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and hope things stay the same for several more weeks.  It's been a good day today :)

Week 1 - In Instagram Pictures

I've now been on bedrest for a little over a week.  Here's some pictures from the hospital that I've been taking with my phone.  I knew I'd use Instagram one day, and I guess this was just the perfect opportunity :)

Update - 27 Weeks

Just a quick update... went to see the perinatologist today for an ultrasound.  Cervix is still shortening, was about 1.9 cm, but they're not changing anything as far as my medication and treatment at this time.  He echoed what the doctor said about me having a few more weeks left before I run a high risk of delivering if things progress as he anticipates.

Baby girl is up to 2 lb 4 oz and looks great!  She's a wiggle worm, for sure, but I guess being so small still she's got plenty of room to roll around.  She was literally head down yesterday and breech this morning.

Dex came to see my hospital room last night.  He liked it because Thomas was playing on the TV (good call on that one Daddy!).  We played trains for a while, he ate my dessert from my dinner tray, and watched some TV.  He likes my bed, I think.  He did want me to come home with him and Daddy, which just breaks my heart, but he was fine and last night went really well from what I hear.  Thankfully, I can do FaceTime in my room, although it gets sketchy sometimes, so I got to talk to and see him before he went to bed.

Update - 26 weeks 6 days

We came in to my doctor again today to re-check cervix length.  It went from 2.3 cm to 2.07 cm in the last three days.  This is not dire news, but it was enough to have them go ahead and admit me to the hospital.  I will be on bedrest here most likely until I deliver.  I am still able to get up and go to the bathroom, take a shower, etc., but that's it.  I am not hooked up to IV's or anything and will only need to monitor contractions twice a day for approximately 30 minutes at a time.  A perinatologist (doctor specializing in high risk pregnancy) will come in 2-3 times a week to do an ultrasound and check my cervix.  With me being here, if anything changes or there are any concerns, they have the ability to react immediately, which is good.

The doctor stated that it is not very likely that I'll deliver in the next week or two, in fact he thinks we'll make it to 30 weeks just fine, possibly even 32.  Of course, there is no guarantee and no way to know exactly what's going to happen, but it's nice to hear.

I will continue to update here as I'm able and as anything new happens!

Pregnancy Update

Well, I went in to the doctor yesterday and got a big shock.  My cervix, which has been doing SO well, has shortened to a level that causes concern.  There is also funneling, which means it looks like a little tornado in the top of my cervix (the side closest to the baby), which is not good.  I was told from the beginning that when it gets to 2.5 cm or below I'd be put on bedrest in the hospital.  It's at 2.3 at the lowest point right now, but my doctor has allowed me to do bedrest at home and come in to check things every couple of days.  If it changes significantly again, I'll be admitted to the hospital.  I've also been given steroid shots to help the baby lung development just in case she comes in the next few days.  I'm praying and hoping that that is NOT the case.  I still feel optimistic that I can hold her in for at least a few more weeks.  But we're taking precaution for worst case scenerio.  Today I am at 26 weeks and 4 days.  Our short term goal is to get to 30 weeks.  Long term is obviously much closer to full term.

I'm a little overwhelmed that this happened so soon.  I truly thought I would make it to 30-32 weeks before I had to go on bedrest, but that's not the case, so we're dealing with it.  PLEASE, please keep me (and Sean and Dex and baby and our families) in your prayers.  That's about all we can do at this point.  I know it's going to be hard on everyone, not just me, because everyone else is picking up my slack and taking care of me.  And poor Dex, I don't know how much he'll understand after it's been like this for a few days.  But I do thank God that I'm able to be at home with my family, for however long I can!

I'll keep updating as we get them...

Fishing

We went out to Lake Grapevine again this weekend.  But this time, we went fishing!

Cooper and Dex:

Very excited about the first fish of the afternoon!

Daddy trying to explain the 'rules' :)

I didn't get a good picture, but Dex touched the fish and even KISSED the fish (because Mr. Brant told him to, not thinking he would actually do it... but yep, he did.)  Ha!

Then we went to feed the ducks and eat!

We ate dinner right over the water listening to a guy play the guitar and sing Jimmy Buffet songs.  It was SO nice and the weather was perfect (two weekends in a row!).  Loving living so close to the water these days :)

Happy Birthday (to me) :)

A picture of me and my big boy:

Beautiful flowers from my husband :)

Today is a big day in my pregnancy, too.  I have now carried this baby as long as I carried Dex.  If this was my pregnancy with him, he would have been born today, at 25 weeks 6 days.  So... tomorrow, I'll be more pregnant than I've ever been before!!!  CRAZY!!  I'm so blessed that things are going well so far, and I thank God every day!  Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers!
