"I'm Waitin' on Daddy..."

That's what he told me when I asked him why he was sitting like this (staring down the street):

Then he got silly again!  :)

It's A....

I didn't think we'd be able to tell this soon, but apparently we could!  :)

Here's my favorite sonogram picture:

You can see her little foot kicked up in the top left corner!  I hope my ribs can handle it when she weighs 5 or 6 more pounds.

I'm 16 weeks right now, about to start my 17th.  Everything looks great!  Cervix is measuring a very good length, which is re-assuring.  I'll keep going in every 2 week for sonograms to keep check.  This baby is going to be sick of having her picture taken before she even comes out :)

Haircut!

FINALLY!  I really wish he didn't hate getting his haircut so much.  He literally cries and shakes uncontrollably the minute he sees the clippers.  If it didn't take two of us to hold him and cut his hair, I'd take pictures!

This was right before he said "AHHH!  Don't take my picture!!!" and ran out of the room :)

Big Boy Bed and Crazy Hair

Since we've got a new baby coming, we decided to leave the nursery where it is and just turn the guest room into Dex's new Big Boy Room!  My mom and dad came a couple of weekends ago and helped out with some big house projects... painting Dex's walls and tiling the bathroom upstairs.  We'd still be working on everything if it wasn't for their help!  So grateful :)

Dex has been sleeping in his crib until now (yes, I know he's THREE... but he just loved it and has never crawled out or even wanted out).  We painted two of his walls blue and two of them an off-white, and I bought him some train sheets for his big boy bed.  I LOVE the way the room turned out!  These are a few pictures of him in his bed, but I haven't taken a picture of the whole room since we've finished it and hung everything on the walls.  I'll have to do that.

Doesn't he just look so tiny in that big ol' bed??!  So sweet.

He's done so great in his big bed so far!  He fell out of the bed once, but that's it!  I'm shocked, actually, as much as he moves around at night.  I came in this morning, and he was laying crossways on top of his pillows, with his leg hanging behind the headboard, and his head almost completely off the bed.  You just never know what you're going to walk in and see :)

We bathe Dex at night, and typically the next day his hair is a disaster.  If he didn't wrestle lions and tigers in his sleep, it might not be so bad!!  Oh and well, if we'd just cut it, that might help too :)

This is even after Daddy put some gel in it and tried to lay it flat.

On a side note - I had my surgery on Tuesday, stayed home and rested on Wednesday and have been back at work since yesterday.  Everything went well, and I go back in next Thursday to do another ultrasound.  The only problem is sitting in my chair at work all day is causing really bad back pain.  Hopefully that will subside going forward!  Thanks for the prayers!

14 Week Ultrasound

Well, I had my ultrasound today!  They were supposed to do the NT scan, but apparently they are only able to run the scan if the baby measures between 11 and 13 weeks, 6 days.  I'm 13 weeks 5 days, but baby measures 14 weeks 4 days.  So... no scan.   Bummer, but we can do another test somewhere between 15-18 weeks.  However, the ultrasound looked great!  The heartbeat was 155 beats per minute.  The tech said that sometimes, if the baby is positioned just right, they can tell the sex.  But ours had his/her legs bent and his/her feet underneath his/her bottom.  So, no gender reveal just yet :)

Thanks so much for the prayers so far, everyone!  We really appreciate it!  I am looking forward (60% calmly and 40% anxiously) to the surgery on Tuesday.

I thought the last ultrasound "looked" very girl-ish, but to me, this one looks kinda boy-ish.  These are all based on technical readings of the ultrasound, OBVIOUSLY.  It does look like he/she has a torso that goes on forever, and you can kinda see their knees bent with their feet under their bottom in this pic...

Big News

Update:  Thank you all SOOOO much for your nice words and your prayers!!  I can't tell you how much I appreciate it!  xoxoxo

(Dex says:  "A baby sister named Clam and a baby girl named Sam!"  We'd been practicing this and usually he was saying a sister named Clam and a brother named Sam... I don't know what he was talking about here!  And I'm not sure when the boy name changed to Reese!)

Yep... there's going to be another baby (Lord willing)!  I am apprehensive to tell people, because I just want everything to go perfectly, and taking my history with Dex into consideration, that's highly unlikely.  But...  I have faith in my doctor and I know we are doing everything possible to keep this baby inside much, much longer than Dex was.  My reasons for putting it on here is that I obviously want my family to know, but also... I'd really appreciate everyone's prayers.  The more people praying throughout this pregnancy, the better!  I'll keep you updated on what's going on and what will be happening next, so please just remember me (us) in your thoughts and prayers  :)

I am 14 weeks right now.  I will go in on Thursday for an ultrasound and an NT Scan and blood work, which will check for downs syndrome and possibly any other abnormalities.  This is a pre-scan before next Tuesday (yep... Valentine's Day) when I will be in the hospital for surgery to put a cerclage in place.  I will be in and out in one day, and the procedure is pretty safe, HOWEVER I am still really anxious.

I'll post more later, but for now, here are some new pictures of Dex that I took today before I did my very first newborn baby shoot.  (I did it at my house, so Dex was my lighting guinea pig before they got here)  It was soooo much fun, and playing with a newborn was just about the coolest thing I did today  :)  I had forgotten how tiny and precious they are!!  Even their cries are adorable!  Haha!

Does he look ready to be a big brother??:
