Happy Halloween!!

Picture by Brandi (b4photography).  This was part of his 6 month session.  Brandi was nice enough to send us his pumpkin patch picture.  We will get the rest of them next week!  Can't wait!

Game #8 - TCU vs UNLV

The game's on Halloween, so what better way to gear up for it than with a TCU pumpkin??!

Of course, I waited until the last minute to put this together, so the TCU got painted on mere minutes before photo time...

(Going in for the wet paint)

Uh, oh!!  Paint on the fingers and smeared on the pumpkin!  (Actually it's kind of hard to see the smeared paint in this picture, but his face is classic)

Happy Halloween and Go Frogs!

10 Months!

Dex is 10 months old today!  Yay!  Such a big boy :)  His adjusted age now is about 6 1/2 to 7 months.  He's developmentally still around that age.  But for anyone wondering, by age 2, he should be completely caught up with his peers...

He's started getting up on his feet and hands, but he's still not going anywhere.  He gets up:

He goes down:

This is kind of funny to me...  I was taking pictures today to post for his 10 month birthday.  I took several pics, including this one:

And what do you know, it looks exactly like his pics from the last post!!  Down to the white long-sleeve onesie, blanket, and boppie lounger in the back!  But I swear it's a new day!!  And a new shirt!  I think...  no, it is.

**Side note:  Okay, shwew... I just realized the last post was a SHORT-sleeve onesie :)

Update on the Pig Flu Situation

An update on the boy:  He's feeling MUCH better today.  He ended up having an extremely mild (in my opinion, based on what I thought it was going to be like) case of the swine flu, with no real issues on his lungs.  He had a cough, but it never sounded like a deep, wet cough that would have been very bad.  His fever was around 99 for a couple of days, but as of yesterday afternoon, that's been gone.  He's still taking his Tamiflu and will for the next two days, but I think he's pretty much over the sickness.  He woke up this morning a new baby.  He slept all night, is taking long naps, and smiles and plays when he's awake!  Thank goodness!!  Now, hopefully Sean or I don't get it...

He used to never like to be held like a baby.  And when I say "used to" I mean like last week.  Now, he likes to be held in your arms and he'll kind of lay backwards with his arms and his head hanging off the sides.  But the only catch is, you can't sit down, you have to be walking so he can look at things all over the house upside down.  It's new to him if he's looking at it from a different angle, I guess.

Kind of like this:

And this one was just so cute :)  He was trying to look at me to see what I was doing...

Game #7 - TCU and BYU

This week, the game's in Provo, UT against BYU.  Should be a great game!  Should be a fun time!  And Sean was all geared up to go, but then....  Dex was diagnosed with the Swine Flu yesterday (more below).  No mo' game.  We have been quarantined, and I'm sure nobody wants us around them as much as we don't want to go out in public!   So, it's left up to Manley and the rest of the TCU game crew to head to Utah and represent!

Even in his tired sickness, Dex knew how important it was to get a blog up for the game tomorrow.  He's a trooper :)  This is his official "sick smile."  It's a little different than his normal smile, and i'm not sure why, but he pulls that bottom lip down really far and you can see his whole row of bottom gums.  Like he doesn't want to, but he knows he should smile.  Haha!  Sweet boy.

This is what he's normally looked like the last day and a half:

So... on Thursday Sean and I went to work and Lyndsey came to the house like always.  He was kind of fussy in the morning, but not too concerning.  By lunch, his fever was up to 101 and he was miserable.  We made an appointment with our pediatrician, and yep... Swine Flu.  Can.  Not.  Believe.  It.   This is the first time he's been sick, and bam!  The big one!  It was really scary to be diagnosed, because the people dying from this have underlying medical conditions, such as chronic lung disease, which he has.  BUT, his lungs sound really clear so far (we had another appointment this morning) and his fever is hovering around 99.  The doctor says it all looks very positive, that this might turn out to be a mild case.  We're not completely out of the woods, but so far it's been as good as it can be.  Thank you, God!

Game #6 - TCU vs Colorado State

Gearing up for Game #6! Go Frogs!

Can you tell I had Lyndsey (Dex's nanny) off to the side making him smile? :) Ha! She's good, though, and it worked like a charm! (He loves her!)

Hi, I'm Awake

Whenever Dex wakes up from his nap, he looks over the side of his crib, as if to say "HIIII... I'm awake!" He always looks in the direction he knows we are (living room), which is so cute! He may be the smartest boy ever born :) haha!

Why are we taking pictures? I'm ready to get out and play!

Feet Up!

So silly, he just props his feet up and watches the pretty lights! No real story here, just something he does that I find pretty funny :)

Ticklish

I'm playing catch-up on my blogs today... Here's my other favorite video. Dex is super ticklish now, and anytime he's in a bad mood, you just squeeze his side, and he has busts into a fit (of laughter)! Funny, funny stuff!

We had our professional "6 month adjusted age" photos last weekend, and took plenty of tickling photos. Can't wait to share those, too!

Bouncing

Dex LOVES his bouncy chair. Always has. He learned to make himself bounce a while back, but I never got a video of it until now. He will sit there and bounce, bounce, bounce for-ever. On a side note, this is also the chair I feed him in, and his constant bouncing makes it an even messier process than necessary... He thinks it's pretty funny though!

(ps. please ignore the TV in the background! Haha!)

Developmental Update

We went to Dex's 9 month dr. appointment this week. Because he was born so early, his "adjusted age" is around 6 months. He's 15 pounds 11 ounces, which is in the 25th percentile for adjusted age. His height jumped to the 70% this time (he's 26 1/2 inches). He had his first little growth spurt! Up until this visit, he's been in the 25-30th percentile.

He's started grabbing his feet. All the time. He loves it!

And he wants to sit or stand up all the time... heaven forbid you lay him down. He even wants to sit up higher in a chair that already sits him up!

And, oh...my...gosh.... the slobbery spit!! He'd better get a tooth soon! Because if he's just drooling for the heck of it, well, that's just gross :) Haha! I'n not sure this picture does him justice...

His absolute favorite game is Peek-a-boo. Never gets old! How fun for mommy :) (actually, it IS pretty fun...!)

Where's Dex??

THERE he is!!

Game 5 - TCU vs Air Force

Dad and son were left to their own devices tonight (mom had a birthday dinner to attend). So his two tasks tonight were to take pictures for the TCU game this weekend and get the boy to bed on time. Well...he got one of two done.

LITTLE bit big on him... give him a couple of years. And look at those eyes!! HUGE!

Turning into a Typical Boy

I was laying on the floor with him and was watching TV this morning. (EARLY this morning. These pics were taken in a dark room, so he's kinda washed out...) He spotted the remote on the floor first thing and went for it, smiling the whole way! WHY IS THAT? He had other stuff to play with, what's the fascination with the remote?! I guess the only reasonable explanation is that boys just like to control the channel changer!

(Love the random shoe in the picture.)

Game #4 - TCU & SMU

This week is TCU & SMU. They have a long-standing rivalry and they play each year for the Iron Skillet Trophy. Thus... Declan posing with the "Iron Skillet." :) Man... we are clever if nothing else!

This is his football face. If that doesn't scare SMU, I don't know what will!

This picture was going to be perfect, if he didn't look like he'd been on an all night bender! How does a baby have bags under his eyes?! Ha!
A few other pics playing with the "trophy"!

Again with that tongue!

Sometimes he just looks so innocent :)

Our attempt at posing him. He's not impressed.

GOOD LUCK TCU!
(10.4.09 - Production rights for this post go to Manley. Thanks for your inspiration! Apparently, Sean and I are not as clever as I gave us credit for :))
