Well, I went in to the doctor yesterday and got a big shock. My cervix, which has been doing SO well, has shortened to a level that causes concern. There is also funneling, which means it looks like a little tornado in the top of my cervix (the side closest to the baby), which is not good. I was told from the beginning that when it gets to 2.5 cm or below I'd be put on bedrest in the hospital. It's at 2.3 at the lowest point right now, but my doctor has allowed me to do bedrest at home and come in to check things every couple of days. If it changes significantly again, I'll be admitted to the hospital. I've also been given steroid shots to help the baby lung development just in case she comes in the next few days. I'm praying and hoping that that is NOT the case. I still feel optimistic that I can hold her in for at least a few more weeks. But we're taking precaution for worst case scenerio. Today I am at 26 weeks and 4 days. Our short term goal is to get to 30 weeks. Long term is obviously much closer to full term.
I'm a little overwhelmed that this happened so soon. I truly thought I would make it to 30-32 weeks before I had to go on bedrest, but that's not the case, so we're dealing with it. PLEASE, please keep me (and Sean and Dex and baby and our families) in your prayers. That's about all we can do at this point. I know it's going to be hard on everyone, not just me, because everyone else is picking up my slack and taking care of me. And poor Dex, I don't know how much he'll understand after it's been like this for a few days. But I do thank God that I'm able to be at home with my family, for however long I can!
I'll keep updating as we get them...
Praying fervently for all four of you--and your families! Love you!
